Back to School -- and a February Newsletter

Being on staff at POC has been a rather enlightening experience. It’s also been a chaotically busy one (as I’m sure you’ve guessed from the silence on this blog).

The dining hall is an active place for 70 people!

Jumping from a student to staff in six months means I’ve been privileged to see both sides of the coin in close succession—from the joy and stress of students encountering all this newness for the very first time… as well as the joy and stress of staff as they attempt to shield the already frazzled students from the behind-the-scenes near disasters continually occurring 19 seconds before class is supposed to start. The challenges aren’t necessarily different… but the scale might be--just as the students learn to cook creatively for their family of four over the weekend, the kitchen managers stretch their imaginations (and budgets!) to prepare nearly 1000 plates a week!

Coming back to Madang to serve on staff wasn’t what I expected when I left back in November, but I’m glad God works outside of my planned box :) My February newsletter was just sent out; if you would like to receive a copy and haven’t, please email me! I’d be delighted to hear from you!
